Physical health and emotional health are intimately intertwined in what is known as the mind-body connection. Our chemistry and biology impact our mood and emotions, as well as thoughts and beliefs. All these factors combined play a major role in influencing our physical health and stress levels.
Somatic coaching has a body-oriented approach. The main goal is to make you aware of these mind-body dynamics, so you can better manage stress responses such as fear, overwhelm, anxiety.
SOMATIC EXPERIENCING® (SE®) FOR TRAUMA HEALING: A DIFFERENT APPROACH
SOMATIC EXPERIENCING® METHOD is an approach that focuses on physical sensations in the body to address trauma, symptoms related to trauma, and overcoming the effects of experiencing extremely stressful events.
Key concepts are
- SENSOPERCEPTION: the tracking of bodily responses and
- the comprehension of the role of your nervous system on your response to stressful circumstances.
It offers tools to release trauma energy from the body using bodily interventions and not talk therapy.
Dealing with cancer is a very traumatic experience. The cancer journey will at times activate fight, flight, and/or freeze stress responses that may manifest in symptoms such as chronic pain, lack of sleep, difficulty to relax, anxiety or panic, rage outbursts, racing thoughts, poor digestion, etc. Somatic coaching using the SOMATIC EXPERIENCING® METHOD is very efficient in dealing with this.
